Meticulous Conservation Meets Daily Utility

Unlike untouched attic finds that require hours of repair before installation, every Willgantiquity piece undergoes documented mechanical and cosmetic restoration in our shop.

1. Non-Destructive Stripping

Decades of paint on solid brass hardware and carbon buildup on vintage cast iron are gently removed using heated ultrasonic tanks and lye/electrolysis—never wire wheels that scar historical tool marks.

2. Mechanical Revival

Mortise locks, Cremone bolts, and parlor lamps are disassembled down to the smallest screw. Worn springs are replaced, mechanisms are dry-lubricated with pure graphite, and lamps receive safe modern wiring.

3. Period-Honest Finishes

We preserve warm age patina while protecting surfaces for decades to come—using microcrystalline museum wax on brass and marble, triple-grapeseed seasoning at 450°F on iron, and hand-rubbed oils on old-growth timber.
